Assah, an Urhobo community of Assah-Ewu clan in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State, has felicitated the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his 62nd birthday celebration.

In a statement released on Thursday, the newly elected President General (PG) of Assah Community Congress, Evang. Philip Onojuvweruo described Rt. Hon. Oborevwori as a talk-and-do governor.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Evang. Philip commended Governor Oborevwori for his leadership style and his dedication to delivering public goods.

“We, the good people of Assah community, join well-meaning Deltans and all Nigerians in celebrating our Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his 62nd birthday.

“His commitment to the progress and development of Delta State is evident in the quality of projects he has delivered and the numerous strides made in key sectors of the State economy.

“Indeed, the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori is working, and we are very proud of him. We never doubted the capacity and ability of His Excellency to deliver.

“As our Governor marks this significant milestone, we pray that Almighty God will grant him good health, wisdom, and many more years of fruitful living,” the statement reads.

While acknowledging Oborevwori’s role in fostering unity and cooperation within the State, Onojuvweruo stated that the Governor has proven to be a unifying force, working across political divides to deliver positive outcomes for the people of Delta.

“I equally want to commend him for infrastructural development, particularly in bringing Julius Berger to Delta State to handle major projects in the State,” he stated.

The PG of Assah community noted that himself and the newly elected executives of the community are very much prepared to stand by Governor Oborevwori in his effort to bring the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

Onojuvweruo used the opportunity of the birthday celebration to draw the attention of the State Governor to the state of some abandoned projects in the Assah community.

He stressed that the abandoned projects have made life unbearable for people of the community and that the Governor should extend his hands of infrastructural development to the community to ensure inclusiveness.

“I also want to remind His Excellency of some projects awarded in 2007 that have remained abandoned.

“The light project has remained abandoned. The 12-kilometer Bedesegha-Assah-Elefe-Edjeko-Omafuvwe road project and the healthcare center are abandoned. These have made life miserable for our people,” he noted.

Onojuvweruo also disclosed that the community primary school and the only secondary school serving the community are is in a deplorable state.

TNG reports that the PG of Assah community and his new executives were elected into office on the 1st of April 2025.

Other executives are: Mr. Amakata Christopher, Vice PG; Mr Odafe Ighohwo, Secretary; Mr Utakpa Robinson, Spokesman; Mr Army Unuade, Treasurer; Mrs Beauty Asemu, Chairlady, and Ms Omote Bridget, Vice Chairlady.
