Former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof Amos Agbe Utuama is dead. Prof Utuama hailed from Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Prof Utuama, a two-term Deputy Governor, served under the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan.
Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as Deputy Governor to former Governor Uduaghan from May 2007 to May 2015. Along with Dr. Uduaghan, Utuama was elected Deputy Governor in the April 2007 governorship election of Delta State.
Before becoming Deputy Governor, Utuama had served as a law teacher and a chief law officer. Prof. Utuama was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1978.
He holds the academic and professional qualifications of LL.B (Hons), LL.M. and Ph.d. from the University of Lagos and B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
Utuama held the position of Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice of Delta State from 1999-2007, thus becoming one of the longest serving Attorneys-General/Commissioner for Justice since the creation of the State.
A devout Christian of the Catholic faith, Utuama was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on September 26, 2005.
It was gathered that the former Deputy Governor died in Warri at the age of 77 after a protracted illness.
