The Ogun State Government has announced Friday November 15, 2024 as a work-free day for civil and public servants in the State ahead of the local government election scheduled to hold in the State on Saturday.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Ogun Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, made the announcement, saying approval was given for the work-free day by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
According to the Bureau, the work-free day is intended to give workers the opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The elections, organized by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), will see the election of chairpersons for Ogun State’s twenty local government areas and councillors for its 236 wards.
“This initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering inclusiveness and participatory democracy. Permanent Secretaries and heads of government agencies have been advised to ensure compliance with this directive,” a statement by the Bureau of Service Matters reads.
