At the heart of the partnership is Traxport’s pioneering initiative to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered rail freight corridor between Lagos and Kano, offering a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective alternative to diesel-powered road transport.

“This isn’t just an investment—it’s a vote of confidence in the future of sustainable logistics in West Africa,” said Emeka Ndu. “With CET Group’s backing, we are accelerating the shift toward a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible rail system.”

The CET Group, through its subsidiary DeWiz Engineering, brings significant technical expertise and infrastructure financing experience to the table.

Known for its wide-ranging portfolio in power generation, engineering, and its ongoing LNG plant development in Okpella, Rivers State, CET is poised to provide Traxport with the capacity to meet its ambitious operational goals.

According to Chief Obiora Nwizu, “This collaboration goes beyond capital infusion. It reflects our shared values and unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and building resilient trade infrastructure across Africa.”

The LNG-powered freight rail project is positioned as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s energy transition and regional trade revitalisation. By reducing reliance on diesel and decongesting overburdened road networks, the project is expected to improve logistics efficiency, cut emissions, and boost long-term economic competitiveness.
