Club World Cup champions Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge by FA Community Shield holders Crystal Palace in their English Premier League (EPL) season opener on Sunday.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls Chelsea clinched the Club World Cup in July with a victory over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), while Crystal Palace stunned defending EPL champions Liverpool to lift the FA Community Shield earlier this August.
Both sides struggled to convert their chances in the cagey encounter. Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, however, found the net, but his effort was ruled out, following a VAR review, leaving the game deadlocked.
Elsewhere at Old Trafford, Arsenal defeated Manchester United by a lone goal in their EPL season opener, and Nottingham Forest defeated Brentford 3:1 at home.
