The Federal High Court in Lagos has acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of all money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a ruling, the court on Tuesday upheld a no-case submission by Fayose’s legal team, concluding that the EFCC had failed to present sufficient evidence to justify a continuation of the trial.
Fayose had faced multiple allegations related to fraud and money laundering allegedly committed during his tenure as governor.
However, after years of legal proceedings, the court determined that the prosecution had not established a prima facie case, leading to his discharge and acquittal.
