An Osogbo Chief Magistrate Court has remanded four bricklayers in Ilesha Correctional Centre, for threatening to kill Onigege of Igege, Oba Kazeem Adio.
They were remanded in a ruling by the magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara, after their bail application was opposed by the prosecutor.
The defendants, namely, Semiu Mujeeb, Kazeem Olasunkanmi, Rokibu Kabiru and Ismaheel Nurudeen, were also accused of malicious damage and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Rasaq Lamidi, informed the court that the defendants and others at large, between the month of January and February, 2022, committed the offences at Igege community in Iwo Magisterial District.
He further said that the defendants “did willfully and unlawfully damage palm trees and other economic trees, value yet unknown, property of Oba Kazeem Adio.
According to Lamidi, the defendants and others threatened the life of Oba Kazeem Adio by using guns, cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapon.
The prosecutor noted that the offences are contrary to and punishable under Section 86 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendants pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Okobe Najite applied for their bail.
Magistrate Ayilara adjourned the matter till April 14, 2022 for mention in Iwo Magistrate court.
