Midfielder Alex Iwobi has said he immediately took himself out of social media after the Super Eagles lost the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Ivory Coast.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Iwobi to have said he is not aware of what is going on during a private discussion with the Minister of Sports, John Enoh.
“Me, I’ve taken myself off social media. So, I’m not aware of what is going on. After yesterday’s game [was when I took myself out],” Iwobi told Enoh.
I condemn strongly the cyber bullying of Alex Iwobi or any other sports man or woman.
They give a lot if not all of themselves when representing our Nation, the least we can do is rally support for them, be kind and gracious with words and actions towards them.Dear Alex Iwobi… pic.twitter.com/5BSAhd7by9

TNG reports Iwobi has been faced with barrages of criticisms following Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the 2023 AFCON final.
As a result of the cyberbullying he faced, all pictures were deleted from the Super Eagles player’s Instagram handle.
Both Jay Jay Okocha and Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa have thrown their support behind Iwobi.
