Afrobeats star David Adeleke popularly know as Davido has replied to criticisms following his remarks on the state of Africa’s economy.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the ‘Feel’ crooner, during an appearance on the US podcast, The Big Homies House, expressed scepticism about the growing interest amongst Black Americans wanting to find their roots.

The singer while responding to the show host’s question about black Americans seeking to return to the motherland, said, “Leave America and go where? It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles”

Davido stressed the economic difficulties and systemic issues affecting African countries.

“It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles. I do my part, I am an ambassador. When I go home and I am filming, I am no going to show the bad parts,” he said.

“I am talking about the situation in the country. Now the exchange rate is messed up, a lot of stuffs are not going well.

“The economy is just not good enough. The oil price is too high. Imagine the country that produces oil, paying more for it than a country importing oil.”

The remarks elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians and celebrities alike, including notable figures like Reno Omokri, broadcaster and actor Patrick Doyle and Nymat who accused Davido of being unpatriotic.

In response, the singer via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter on Tuesday, tagged TVC News saying, “Lmao @tvcnewsng nah today??”
