The Delta State Police command has reacted to the claims of a Nigerian woman, who alleged that her Ghanaian/German husband was assaulted by some men of the State police command along the Agbor-Benin expressway.
TheNewsGuru reports that the woman in a viral video that surfaced on social media, said during a stop and search exercise, that the officers assaulted her husband after finding a camouflage trouser which they said is against the law.
Reacting to the viral video, the spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the claims made by the woman were false and baseless.
‘’On the 8th of May 2025, Policemen of the command, while on stop and search duty along the Agbor-Benin Express road, intercepted a commercial sienna vehicle carrying about seven occupants. The occupants and their luggage were subjected to a search, but this did not go down well with the Nigerian woman who recorded the video, and she started insulting and harassing the Policemen. As seen in the Video, the Police were calm and professional despite all her provocative comments. Her claim that the policemen assaulted her husband is false and a deliberate attempt to paint the image of the police force in a bad light. As heard in the video, she was calling out on the Facebook community and the social media community, which implies that she was aiming at creating content.’’ he said
He went on to state that the command under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda does not tolerate indiscipline or incivility to members of the public, and the records are there for all to see.
