Easter Tragedy: Photos: 2 dead, 14 injured in Lagos accident

There was pandemonium at the Gbagada area of Lagos on Monday (today) when a Volks Wagon (commercial bus) with registration number GGE716XM had a head on collision with another vehicle (MazdaTaxi) leaving two dead and 14 severely injured.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the Emergency Response Team (ERT) of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) received a distressed call at about 3:05 pm regarding the accident which happened precisely at Gbagada Bus Stop (inward Anthony) in Lagos.

This prompted the immediate activation of the Agency’s ERT to the scene of the incident.

Preliminary Investigation conducted by the Agency’s Emergency Response Team at the scene revealed that a Volk Wagon commercial bus with registration number GGE716XM had a head on collision with another vehicle (MazdaTaxi).

TheNewsGuru.com reports that 14 persons were rescued by the emergency responders and taken to the Gbagada General Hospital and Trauma Centre by a combined team of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and the LASEMA Paramedics as they sustained different degrees of injuries.

Two lives were also reported lost and have been deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital Mortuary.

The damaged vehicles were however recovered with the aid of the Agency’s towing truck to avoid another incident and free flow of traffic in the area.

Addressing newsmen at the scene of the incident, the General Manager of LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu advised motorist especially commercial bus drivers to ensure they pay full attention while driving and also ensure they drive within the speed limit to avoid unnecessary loss of lives to reckless driving.
