Edafioghor, Ogodie families announce passing of Matriarch, Mrs. Joan Elo Edafioghor

The Asawode-Edafioghor family of Ekruogboje, Owhelogbo, in Isoko North Local Government Area, and the Ogodie family of Canaan-Owhe, have announced the peaceful transition of their beloved matriarch, Mrs. Joan Elo Edafioghor, fondly known as “Oni Ewheya Ogboje”.

According to the family, Mrs. Edafioghor passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., at the age of 92.

In a statement signed by her son, Engr Fred Amawhe Edafioghor, a former Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Works, the family expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of her long and impactful life.

“With hearts filled with gratitude to Almighty God for this wondrous gift to us, we joyfully announce the transition into eternity of our Matriarch, Mrs. Joan Elo Edafioghor.

“At this point, we wish to thank all who made her life so glorious and humbly request families, friends, associates, and well-wishers to remember her and all of us in your prayers,” the statement read.

Funeral arrangements, the family said, will be announced at a later date.
