The Ekiti deputy governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, has described the ongoing state Assembly election in Ekiti as cool, calm and orderly.
Egbeyemi gave this commendation while addressing newsmen shortly after voting at Ward 8, Unit 14, his polling unit in Ado-Ekiti.
The deputy governor said so far in Ado-Ekiti, the ongoing election had been orderly, saying: “Everything in the on-going State Assembly election is cool, calm and orderly.
“Our people are very peaceful here in Ado-Ekiti; there is peace everywhere,” Egbeyemi said.
On the low turnout of voters, the deputy governor said, “the people may have their reasons for not coming out in large numbers.
“However, the votes of those who will be counted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are those who come out to vote, so it is not how large the numbers”.
“So the people, who know that they are not going to win, will not come out to vote and that is the logic”.
On his expectations from INEC, Egbeyemi said INEC had been performing well and that he was sure that the commission would perform well again on Saturday.
