EPL: Aina, Awoniyi battle relegation as Nottingham Forest deducted four points for breaking Financial rules

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Taiwo Awoniyi’s clubside, Nottingham Forest have dropped to relegation zone after  Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules deducted four points from them for breaking Premier League  financial rules

The deduction in point means that Luton Town has climbed above Forest with just one point on the EPL log.

The Premier League will react to the situation through an official statement soon.

Nottingham Forest is likely to file an appeal as they were charged with a breach of financial regulations during the January transfer window.

Although the club accepted the financial breach, their defence was based on ‘extenuating circumstances’ relating to the sale of forward Brennan Johnson last summer.

The news of the points deduction could negatively impact the team’s morale and their fight to avoid relegation, which is becoming more challenging.
