EPL: Guardiola takes a swipe at Chelsea for spending £1bn on players in the last one year

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has stylishly taken an indirect jibe  at Chelsea for spending over £1bn on players in the one year, saying fans would have roasted him if it was City that did the same.

Romeo Lavia’s arrival from Southampton in a £58million deal takes the Blues’ spending to almost £1billion under Todd Boehly.

Guardiola added that Premier League rivals are not getting enough media attention like they would have if it was the other way round.

“I couldn’t sit here if we spent what Chelsea spent in the last two transfer windows – you would kill me,” Guardiola said.

“You will kill me, that is for sure. We’d be under scrutiny like you couldn’t imagine.”
