EPL: Onuachu blamed for Southampton relegation

Nigerian forward, Paul Onuachu has been blamed for the relegation of Southampton from the English Premier League.

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder, Owen Hargreaves slammed the player for not being helpful by scoring goals that could help the club escape relegation.

Recall that Southampton were relegated after being beaten at Saint Mary’s 2-0 by Fulham on Saturday,

Southampton will play in the championship 11 years after gaining promotion to the premiership.

The Saints have been in the bottom three since November and had to add attacking options such as Onuachu in January to help them stay up.

”Onuachu could not even find the back of the net for once despite scoring goals for fun in Belgium where he was signed from”. Hagreaves said

Hargreaves said that the transfer of the Nigeria international to Southampton has not worked out as planned.

“When you think about Sulemana he didn’t do anything. Onuachu did not do anything. It was a nice idea but it didn’t work out for them.”
