EPL: Wolves compound Chelsea’s woes, Newcastle beat Brentford to reclaim 3rd position

It was a bad day  for Frank Lampard on his second coming as interim manager as Chelsea football club again failed to secure three maximum points as they surrendered to the superior firepower of Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux.

Matheus Nunes screamer in the 31st minute made the difference in the thrilling encounter.

Chelsea huffed and puffed in the second half but failed to test Jose Sa in the Wolves’ goal.

The result left Chelsea 11th on the log as they have only managed to win just four games in almost 21 matches in the EPL.

Meanwhile,Brentford’s Ivan Toney converted the second penalty of the game to put his side ahead after missing the first one and seeing  his goal  chalked off for offside.

They were run away winners at halftime.

However, Newcastle rallied back  after the restart and turned the game with two goals in six minutes, courtesy of Alexander Isak and David Raya’s unfortunate own goal.

As a result of their fifth straight Premier League win, the Magpies went back third, level on points with Manchester United, though with a vastly-superior goal difference.

Brentford, meanwhile, have won just one of their last five league games, which will not help their outside chances of European qualification.
