The Ibadan-based radio station owned by veteran singer, Yinka Ayefele, was on Friday night gutted by fire.
Samuel Arugboboisi, a media personality had taken to the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter to raise an alarm, as he appealed to the Fire Service to respond without delay and urged the public to help spread the word and notify the nearest fire station.
The post reads: “Fresh FM is currently on fire! We urgently need the Fire Service to respond immediately. Please spread the word and alert the nearest station.”
In a viral video, persons around the inferno were observed in a confused state as the fire raged on.
In another post, he shared the fire raging with “What a night” as the caption.
One staff member of the station, who pleaded anonymity, also told The Gazette: “It’s pathetic as I speak with you. We are trying to reach the firefighters.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified, and the extent of the damage and potential casualties are still unclear.
