The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said its operatives have rescue a man from deep well in the Ikotun area of the state.
The agency made this known in a post shared on its X handle @LagosRescue on Tuesday. It stated that the agency received a distress call reporting an individual trapped inside a well.
“The rescue team swiftly mobilised and arrived at the scene at No 12 Aiyeola St, off Governor Road, Molad B/S, Ikotun, Lagos.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that a male adult, approximately 56 years old, had become trapped while working inside a well estimated to be 80 feet deep.
“The incident occurred at the rear of a bungalow comprising eight rooms of varying sizes, situated on a property covering approximately 648 square metres.
“The victim was successfully rescued alive through the coordinated efforts of the firefighters, “it stated.
According to fire service, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have resulted from negligence.
It reiterated the importance of notifying the agency whenever hazardous jobs were to be undertaken.
“This will allow for proper safety protocols, including standby duty, to prevent life-threatening situations, ” it said.
