The Ekete-Udu road drainage system which was heavily silted with waste and sand, making it difficult for free flow of water through the drainage system in Ekete community, was being de-silted to make way for free flow of water to Kotokoto canal.

According to Goru who was accompanied by the Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, every obstruction on the water channel shall be removed to pave way for proper de-silting of the drainages.

“We are embarking on a thorough cleaning up of this water channel hence, we are synergizing with the Council Chairman, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode to ensure that all erected structures on this water channel are brought down so our lofty efforts may not be in vain,” Hon. Goru said.

Speaking further, he said the opening up of the Kotokoto canal is very critical since it’s the discharge point of all the drainages within the community.

Also speaking, Hon. Vincent Oyibode affirmed that the task force committee on illegal structures shall be on ground to ensure compliance.

“Every structure on the water channel shall be removed to pave way for proper Flow of water through the channel,” he said.
