Hon. Kayode Oladele, a former member of the House of Representatives, has emerged as the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Oladele, who represented the Yewa-North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency of Ogun State at the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 had been nominated by President Bola Tinubu, and the Senate confirmed his appointment.
He was a Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume had written a letter after June 30 to Muheeba Dankaka, then chairman, reminding her of expiration of her tenure and should vacate as Chairman of FCC June 1.
The letter which was signed by Ikyenge Tyokase Francis, a Director in SGF reminded her that her tenure ended on June 1 and should leave “in line with extant administrative procedures governing the handover process in public service institutions…and “to formally conclude all outstanding official matters and hand over the reins of leadership of the Commission to the Commissioner on ground by close of business on Tuesday 1 July, 2025.”
The letter further said, “This directive is to ensure seamless transition, uninterrupted operations and the continued discharge of the Commission’s constitutional mandate, pending the appointment of a substantive Chairman.”
Consequently, Oladele took over on Wednesday and would now act as the Chairman of the Commission until an appointment is made by the President and confirm by the Senate.
