Following the coup in Gabon on Wednesday, the military leaders have designated General Brice Oligui Nguema, the head of the Republican Guard, as the transitional president.
An officer, amidst the presence of numerous senior officers, announced in a statement on Gabon 24 that General Oligui Nguema Brice had been unanimously chosen as the chairman of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions and as the leader of the transitional period.
