…as Anioma Nation Unites In Celebration Of Cultural Festival
Today’s Easter Monday, 21st April, 2025, marked a unique historic day in the annals of history of Anioma Nation, as sons and daughters of this geographical enclave came together in unity to celebrate the Anioma Cultural Festival, organized by the Organization For the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC), which is the umbrella body of Anioma Culture.
In this event hosted by Anioma leaders of thought as segmented into the Board of Trustees, Board of Traditional Rulers, Management Board, Coordinators and members; dignitaries from other cultural backgrounds also joined in the celebration.
In his capacity as the father of all, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, ably represented by his own Anioma born Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme addressed the people of Anioma Nation in the most appreciative manner, describing their support to his administration as massive and sincere.
He lauded OFAAC for advancing and sustaining his Administration’s Peace Agenda, while calling on the traditional rulers to continue to preach peace in their domains as a way of upholding the rich cultural heritage handed over to them by their forebears.
Oborevwori assured that no portion of Anioma Nation would be abandoned in his administration’s policies and programmes, as a show of his gratitude for their magnanimity towards him.
In his assessment of the 19th edition of Anioma Cultural Festival, the President OFAAC and renowned Architect Kester Ifeadi, appreciated God for the success of the festival as evident in the crowd that turned out.
His words, “Almost the entire Anioma Nation came out for this festival, ranging from traditional rulers, leaders and stakeholders from across political divide were all here. I am indeed impressed that our culture is uniting our people across all divides; and it’s being sustained on the basis of hard-work, sincerity and honesty of purpose”, Ifeadi posited.
In his advice to the younger generation, the chairman of the Board of Trustees and Desert Warrior, Chief (Dr) Newton Jibunoh charged them to emulate the principles of good virtue as rooted in Anioma cultural values and behaviours.
He admonished Anioma people to never abandon Anioma culture and traditions, but to sustain it for generations after, to live on it and nurture it going forward.
Nevertheless, the festival featured various categories of competitive activities ranging from dancing, wrestling, fluting, etc, for which prizes were won according to the categories.
However, the star prize and first position went to Egwuoma Dance Group of Ibusa, the second position to Aguba Royal Dance Group of Ubulu-Uno and then the third position to Seat of Wisdom Dance Group of Kwale.
