High court evacuated following bomb threat email

A bomb threat email on  Friday,  prompted authorities to evacuate the high court premises in the Indian capital Delhi, officials said.

The move also forced all benches to stop hearings and evacuate the court premises.

A lawyer said that several judges adjourned their proceedings without giving a reason, and courtrooms were vacated.

According to police, a bomb detection and disposal team immediately reached the spot to conduct searches.

Police teams and fire services personnel were also present at the spot.

“The area has been cordoned off completely, and the searches are underway.

However, so far nothing suspicious has been found,” a police officer said.

Local media reports said the threat email mentioned that the high court’s judge chamber would be “detonated shortly”.
