How 8-year-old primary pupil confessed to NSCDC of killing six, and another accuses father of rape in Ogun State

The new commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, Kayode Oyinloye has revealed how an eight-year-old primary school pupil confessed to having killed six persons in cult-related activities from the zone he just finished serving in Ogun State.

He made the revelation while revealing his action plan to journalists at the Kogi State Command Headquarters in Lokoja.

Mr. Oyinloye said the high rate of crime in the country requires a more systematic approach, noting the need for efforts to be put in place to ensure even young primary school pupils are reorientated on why they should avoid some form of associations.

He said gone are the days when cult – related activities were the exclusive reserves of students in higher levels of learning, noting that the menace has trickled down to even students at primary and secondary levels.

The new Commandant stressed his resolve to hold stakeholders’ workshop with parents and pupils, noting that he would also introduce an innovation into that level of education which would give pupils opportunities to confess to his men without the knowledge of their parents.

“You know some of these children that are going through things cannot come out to say what they are actually going through. They would not just open up to you without first having the confidence to do so. That is why I want to bring that idea to my new command of deployment where children of primary school age can talk to us without fear.”

He also revealed that a nine-year-old pupil had confessed to his men of suffering from sexual molestation from her father but that she was afraid to tell anyone at the time.

He said it took the efforts of his men to address the issue by arresting and prosecuting the father.

He assured the people of the state of his resolve to tackle all forms of criminality head-on, noting that the core mandate of the NSCDC was the protection of critical infrastructure across the country.

He also promised to continue to work closely with sister agencies, noting that such synergy was necessary even as he informed owners of Private Guards Companies on the need to have their outfits registered with government and forwards their personnel for training and retraining.
