Ikolobia Ndokwa passes vote of confidence on Ochonogor(Photos)

The leadership of Ikolobia Ndokwa, a prominent socio-cultural and advocacy group representing the interests of the Ndokwa people in a gesture of deep gratitude and recognition today 3rd Sept, 2025 paid a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus M. Ochonogor at the Commission’s Headquarters in Warri.

Reacting to their remarks, Chief F. M. Ochonogor thanked the delegation for their thoughtful visit and assured them of DESOPADEC’s unwavering dedication to equitable development across all mandate areas, emphasizing the Commission’s vision of fostering sustainable growth driven by community engagement and a strong feedback mechanism.

“We are all partners in development. DESOPADEC belongs to the people and every step we take is aimed at improving lives and building a future our communities can be proud of. The Ndokwa nation is dear to us and we remain committed to fulfilling our mandate,” Chief Ochonogor said.

Admonishing the youths to remain steadfast and committed to the leadership and M.O.R.E. agenda of his Excellency Elder Sheriff Oborevwor, Chief Ochonogor said the idea of “pull him down syndrome” should not be encouraged amongst them, advising that they should rather join hands together to encourage their leaders in power so that they can do more.

Earlier, the delegation led by Comrade Azaka Fidelis had expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Commission’s developmental strides across Ndokwa land under the stewardship of Chief Ochonogor, particularly the ongoing infrastructural projects, youth empowerment initiatives and community development programs that have significantly impacted oil-producing communities in the region.

“Chief Ochonogor has shown exemplary leadership, transparency and an uncommon commitment to inclusive development. We have come today not just to thank him, but to pass a vote of confidence on him and encourage him to continue on this laudable path that brings hope and progress to our people,” Comr. Azaka said.

He further informed Chief Ochonogor of the desire of the group to invite him to the inauguration of the group which according to him, will take place on a date to be announced soon.

Highlight of the occasion was the symbolic presentation of a giant live fish to the DESOPADEC Boss as a token of appreciation from Ikolobia Ndokwa as well as a group photograph to commemorate the event.

The occasion not only strengthened the bond between the Commission and the Ndokwa people but also served as a reminder of the impact of collaborative efforts in achieving regional development goals.
