Italy and Newcastle midfielder, Sandro Tonali is set to miss 10 months from active football due to a ban placed on him for his involvements in football betting.
Tonali’s suspension has been confirmed by Italian authorities according to rep[orts from Daily Mail.
Tonali’s lawyers have been in negotiations with prosecutors and the Italian Football Federation with an agreement close after he allegedly placed illegal bets at his former club AC Milan.
The Italian star, who joined Newcastle for £55million in the summer, will however be available for Newcastle’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.
Reports says that Tonali’s suspension will begin on Thursday, October 26th and will elapse next year August.
The 23-year-old would also miss early weeks of the 2024-2025 campaign and as well be ruled out of Euro 2024 for Italy.
Although Tonali would be unable to feature until late August 2024, it is believed that he will be free to train with Eddie Howe’s side during his suspension.
