Just In: Rivers State crisis deepens as lawmakers block Fubara’s entry into Assembly

Aleast twenty-seven lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday barred the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from accessing  the State House of Assembly, to present 2025 budget.

TheNewsGuru reports that the Rivers State governor had arrived at the Assembly early in the day for—the presentation of the 2025 budget, but was met with the gate locked, preventing his entry.

According to Channels Television, the security personnel at the Assembly complex locked the gates when Governor Fubara arrived with his convoy.

However, an Assembly staff, who spoke anonymously, claimed there was no formal communication regarding the Governor’s visit.

“I am not aware that the Governor was scheduled to be at the Assembly today (Wednesday). If such information existed, the Rt. Hon. Speaker would have informed us. As of now, we have no knowledge of his visit,” a source stated.
