Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS) has suffered a major technical glitch and has been grounded. As a result, train services scheduled for July 15, 2025 (today) have been cancelled due to the unexpected technical issues.
“Our team of engineers is currently working diligently to resolve the problem,” management of the train service disclosed in a notice to passengers.
The notice added: “Passengers who wish to reschedule their journey will be provided with a platform to do so. Those who prefer a refund will be attended to immediately”.
Earlier, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) had disclosed that regular train operations would not be disrupted today despite the public holiday declared by the federal government.
Recall that the federal government had declared today a public holiday to honour former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former President died on Sunday in a London hospital after a prolonged illness. Buhari’s remains will arrive from London at noon today for burial in his hometown of Daura in Katsina State, following Islamic rites.
