Counsel to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Sanusi Musa has insisted that the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports both candidates of the APC, who is the Governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani and the PDP, Isa Ashiru claim the tribunal judgement to be in their favour.
According to Musa, the PDP wanted to be declared as the winner of the election but the tribunal ruled that they have not proven that.
“The tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the PDP. That is the ruling of the tribunal in the morning.
“But by the provision of the Constitution, they required to also consider the petition on merit.
“So, on merit, two of them said that election was supposed to be conducted in 22 polling units because the number of the voters there exceed the margin.
“But the PDP wanted to be declared as the winner of the election but the tribunal said that they have not proved that.
“They alleged that there were corrupt practices perpetrated by the APC, they said they have not proved that.
“So, in essence, as at today, PDP petition is dismissed by the tribunal. Unless PDP appeal to the Court of Appeal, then, we will now know what will happen there. But the petition has been dismissed,” Musa said.
