Kebbi officials arrive to receive corpse of Emir of Zuru from London today

Kebbi State Government high-powered delegation to Zuru to participate in the preparations for the funeral of the late Emir of Zuru, retired Major-General Muhammad Sani Sami, who passed away on Saturday in a London hospital, have arrived the ancient town ahead the arrival and burial of the late monarch later today.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, stated that the advance team was at the directives of Governor Nasir Idris.

Led by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, other members of the delegation include: Alhaji Abubakar Garba Dutsinmari, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner for Information and Culture; Alhaji Yunusa Ismail, Commissioner for Health; Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruk Muslim, Commissioner for Works; and Alhaji Shehu Muazu, Commissioner for Agriculture.

The delegation will remain in Zuru throughout the period of the arrival and burial of the late Emir’s body, and will also join the Emir’s family in receiving mourners who are trooping to Zuru on condolences.

Speaking on behalf of the government, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, said Governor Nasir Idris, who is presently on official engagement abroad, was deeply saddened by the demise of one of Kebbi State’s and Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers.

The Governor has directed that, all possible assistance and support be made available to ensure that the late Emir receives a befitting burial.

The Kebbi State Government continues to mourn with the Emir’s family, the people of Zuru, and the entire residnts of Kebbi State and the Nigerians in general.
