The Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has prohibited final year students from holding sign-out celebrations outside the institution’s campus.

The Registrar of the university, Nuradeen Abdu, announced this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.

He said the decision followed an accident involving two tricycles allegedly caused by students celebrating their graduation at the university gate.

Sign-out celebrations typically involved final-year students signing shirts, engaging in social activities, and marking the completion of their studies.

According to the Registrar, such activities will no longer be allowed at the permanent site campus gate.

“Students should henceforth hold their celebrations within their faculty premises to prevent loss of lives and property.

“The use of public address systems is also banned, and students are forbidden from driving or running around with vehicles during the celebrations,” the statement read.

Abdu warned that any breach of the directive would attract immediate disciplinary action, urging students to comply to avoid further accidents and ensure safety on campus.
