Management of Lobi Football Club on Monday unveiled Mr Bala Abubakar as the new Technical Adviser (TA) of the club.
Performing the ceremony in Makurdi, its Chairman, Mr Phillip Nongo said the new TA had all the expertise to bring back the glory days of the club.
He said Abubakar had acquired adequate experience in the Nigerian Premier League to deliver on the job.
Nongo, who is also the Permanent Secretary and acting Commissioner, Ministry of Youths, Sports and Creativity, said Abubakar was very familiar with the Lobi FC terrain.
He said the coach had promised to create history by returning the club back to the premier league with the cooperation of the players and management.
The chairman said that the club was hopeful that it would commence the Nigeria National League (NNL) season, playing its matches at home.
He explained that the previous season, which the club was relegated to NNL, was one of its toughest moments.
Nongo regretted that the inability of the club to play her home matches away from home was one of the factors that contributed to her relegation.
He said they would do everything to ensure that the club played its matches at home in the coming season.
He, however, takes full responsibility for the bad season that ended and assured that the management would correct all the mistakes in future matches.
Nongo stressed that no amount of media blackmail or ethnic bias would derail the club, saying that they intend to remain focused at all times.
“We take full responsibility for the relegation of the team but we are learning fast and firmly. Rebuilding has started with the scouting of talented players.
“We are aiming to return stronger. We are recruiting younger indigenous players to replace old ones who can no longer play. No amount of blackmail or ethnic castigating will derail us. We remain focus and firm,” he said.
In his remarks, Abubakar, who hailed from Niger, said that he would use his second coming to create impact on the club.
“I am happy to be unveiled today as the coach and this is my second coming and this is a different ball game all together.
“Though this is a difficult terrain but with the support of players, and management I will return the club back to the premier league,” he said.
