Detectives from Nkpolu Police Division in Mile 3 Diobu, Rivers State has arrested a wheelbarrow pusher, identified as Peter, from Benue State over the death of his female lover, identified as ‘Mummy’, from Ogoni extraction of the State.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased, a trader in Mile 3 Market, had visited Peter’s house, located behind a filling station at Ikwerre road opposite Bishop Okoye street, Mile 3 Diobu, on Thursday night, to pass the night.
However, tragedy struck early morning Friday, when the suspect raised an alarm, which attracted his neighbours, after discovering that Mummy had died, and the neighbours immediately alerted the police.
The police arrived at the scene, arrested Peter, and retrieved the corpse of the deceased. The cause of Mummy’s death is yet to be ascertained.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said that the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Mummy’s death.
Iringe-Koko said “the suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing”.
