A truck carrying a container tumbled in the Lekki area of Lagos State on Friday, leaving commuters hooked in traffic for hours.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the incident occurred at the Chevron intersection, inward Lekki, along Lekki-Epe expressway.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed via X that the incident covered almost 80% of the road.

“A loaded containerized truck fell on its side at Chevron intersection inward Lekki along Lekki Epe Express way. The incident covered almost 80% of the road.

“The driver and Motor boy could not be sighted at the moment, but our officials are firmly on ground to manage the traffic situation,” LASTMA stated.

TNG gathered that the traffic backlog is currently at the Second Tollgate.

While the truck has been recovered from the location at the time of filing this report, efforts were ongoing for the evacuation of the fallen container.

LASTMA disclosed that a crane was being expected for the evacuation of the container.

“Traffic backlog is still at the Second Tollgate and our officials are well positioned for effective traffic control.

“Patience is required from all the road users,” LASTMA stated.
