The Nigerian Press Council, NPC, has received with deep shock the passing of a doyen of
the Nigerian Press and wife of the founder and publisher of the Concord titles, Dr.
Doyin Abiola.
Reacting to the news of Dr. Abiola’s death, the Executive Secretary of the Council,
Dr. Dili Ezughah, says it is a huge loss to the media industry in general and
Nigerian journalism in particular.
Dr. Ezughah decribes Dr. Doyin Abiola, first Nigerian female Editor-In-Chief of a
national newspaper (Concord titles), as one of the finest and most decorated
journalists the country has produced; adding that her wealth of experience and
managerial prowess are most needed now to check the menace of fake news,
misinformation and disinformation.
The Executive Secretary condoles with the Abiola and Aboaba families, the
Nigerian Press Organisation, and the entire nation on this tragic incident.
