NPFL: Newly promoted side, Sporting Lagos climb to top

Newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League side, Sporting Lagos has moved to the summit of the league after holding former champions Akwa United to a 0-0 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday.

The Lagos based side put up defensive resistance and top performance to climb the top of the NPFL after just two round of games.

Paul Offor’s side top the standings with four points from two games.

At the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe United defeated defending champions Enyimba 2-0.

Alakwe Chijioke opened the scoring for the home team two minutes before the break.

Ahmed Jimoh netted the second goal in the 90th minute.
