Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recalled his encounter with an ailing traditional ruler while lecturing at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the clergyman during a recent service, said he was in his office at UNILAG solving a mathematical problem when God directed him to write to the traditional ruler, urging him to repent.
According to the 83-year-old pastor, he followed God’s instruction and posted the letter to the intended recipient, which was received within three days.
He said, “Suddenly I heard God saying, “son, I want you to write a letter to chief so so”. Of course I grabbed my pen and began to write what he was saying.
“God told me “tell him (Chief) I love him, I know all about his faults, I know everything he has done wrong, tell him I love him and if he will surrender his life to me, I will forgive everything he has done in the past and I will still take him to heaven”.
“I quickly wrote it. After a while I said, “Lord, I don’t even know this chief, I don’t have his address”, but then, he said “write at the back of the envelope, chief so so and post the letter.
“I’m talking of those days when you post a letter, if it arrives after three months, you thank God”.
According to the clergy, the traditional ruler subsequently visited him in the office, and he urged him to repent from his sins.
The clergyman, lamented that despite his efforts, the chief procrastinated his repentance until he died.
He stressed, “I explained to him that he should give his life to Christ but he said he will think about it and I said “yes Sir” because you can’t force anybody to be saved.
“I kept visiting him every two weeks for the next three years and he insisted he will think about it. Suddenly he has a massive stroke. But before he became unconscious, he told the people around to send for me and then he went into coma.
“I went to him and he was almost gone. I begged God to restore him one more time so I can make one more appeal. In less than one hour, he was completely whole again. I said to him, “Chief, God has shown you uncommon mercy, will you give your life to Christ now”? He said he would think about it.
“I knew at that moment, there is no need wasting my time. Shortly after that, he died”.
