Police Inspector caught allegedly transporting live ammunition at Nyanya motor park

A police inspector has been taken into custody after a package containing live ammunition was intercepted at Nyanya Motor Park in Abuja.

According to crime analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday when police officers, working with the Keffi Motor Park Union, grew suspicious of a parcel scheduled for delivery to Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Upon inspection, the parcel was found to contain an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

The suspect, identified as Inspector Kasimu Usman from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit under the FCT Police Command, was promptly arrested.

During questioning, Inspector Usman reportedly confessed that the ammunition was intended for another officer Inspector Haruna Mohammed who is currently serving with the 58 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Nasarawa State.

Inspector Usman remains in custody as investigations continue.
