Simon Guobadia, Nigerian-American businessman and the estranged husband of reality TV star Porsha Williams, has been detained by United States (U.S) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to longstanding immigration issues.
Records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security indicated that Guobadia, a Nigerian-born businessman, is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Georgia.
Guobadia had arrived in the United States (U.S) in 1982 but overstayed his visa, leading to a deportation order in 1985.
In 1987, He was arrested again for financial crimes, including bank and credit card fraud and was deported to Nigeria in 1992 but managed to return illegally a month later.
In 2016, he applied for U.S. citizenship, but his request was denied due to his previous immigration violations.
His detention comes in the wake of intensified deportation efforts by President Donald Trump-led administration.
Guobadia has been unable to secure legal status in the country, despite multiple appeals over the years.
Meanwhile, Guobadia and Williams have been locked in a legal battle since she filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage.
In recent court rulings, Williams was granted temporary sole possession of their marital home and full rights to film and produce content at the property.
