The funeral of late President Muhammadu Buhari has been scheduled to take place in Daura, Katsina State at 4.00pm today Monday 14th July 2025.
His body will leave the London Hospital this morning in a six-hour flight to Katsina Airport, from where it will be taken straight to Daura for interment after Islamic rites.
According to family sources, the late President went to London initially to visit his friend and long-time acquaintance, Alhaji Mamman Daura who was ill and recuperating.
When he arrived London, Buhari took ill too and was admitted into the London Hospital where he was subsequntly diagnosed of luekemia. He was recently reported to be recuperating and out of intensive care, before his situation took a turn for the worse. He later passed away on Sunday, July 13th surrounded by close family relations.
Accompanying the remains back home will be his widow and former first lady – Aisha, the Vice Presdent, several governors, CoS to the President, top government functionaries and close relations of the deceased statesman.
Meanwhile, all flights to Katsina and the neighbouring states have been fully booked by well-wishers who will descend on the ancient city of Daura to bid farewell to this remarkable soldier, politician, gentleman.
He is survived by a son and nine daughters.
