Purp, whose real name is Anu Agosta, from Lagos, has won the tenth season of Nigeria Idols after weeks of thrilling performances, intense eliminations, and jaw-dropping vocals.
TheNewsGuru reports that 25-year-old garnered the title after going head-to-head with fellow finalist Raymu in a final showdown that tested vocal strength, stage presence and emotional connection with the audience.
Purp, who started singing in her mother’s church choir and later studied Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has been a sensation for the duration of this season of Nigeria Idols.
The singer earned the highest number of public votes to clinch the coveted prize of N30 million.
Media personality IK Osakioduwa, hosted this this year’s finale which judging panel, included Omawumi, Ric Hassani and Iyanya who was joined by guest judge 9ice.
The judges praised Purp and Raymu, who made the first runner-up position for their resilience, artistry and growth throughout the competition.
Lawrence and Mikki, also made it to the top, but bowed out in an emotional double elimination, clearing the path for this powerful showdown.
Speaking after the win, an emotional Purp said, “This moment feels surreal. I’m so grateful to everyone who voted, supported, and believed in me. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to share more music with the world.”
