Qatar has condemned an Israeli strike on Doha as a violation of its sovereignty and international law, and announced it is working with the United States to prevent a repeat of the incident.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said on Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had shown “absolutely no respect for his partners and allies,” adding that peace mediators were being scapegoated instead of protected.

He stressed the attack would not deter Qatar’s efforts to broker a peace deal.

Al Ansari noted that the U.S. informed Doha only after the bombing, but said President Donald Trump later assured Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani that such incidents would not happen again.

The Emir warned the strike would not go unanswered and pledged to pursue all legal and diplomatic avenues in response.

Qatar, a key non-NATO U.S. ally, hosts the largest American military base in the Middle East.
