The Supreme Court has conferred the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on renowned academician, Prof Joseph Efeyemineni Abugu; Commissioner for Justice in Delta State, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, Richard Oma Ahonaruogho and 71 other legal practitioners.
In tune with the times, the conferment which held at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court followed strict compliance to laid down COVID19 guidelines as most invited dignitaries, including spouses of awardees, were barred from the main courtroom.
The conferment which forms part of activities marking the commencement of the 2020/21 legal year, was performed by Justice Bode Rhodes-Vuvour, who was accompanied by 16 other Justices of the Supreme Court.
Other SANs sworn-in are Robert Egwuno Emukpoeruo, Esq; Chukwuka Nwabueze Ikwuazom, Esq; Lotanna Chuka Okoli, Esq; Tochukwu Dominic Maduka; Chukwuemeka Obiajuru Nwagu; Henry Okechukwu Akunebu, Esq; Uwemedimo Thomas Nwoko, Esq; Boma Florence A. Alabi (Mrs); Efefiom Otu Efiom Ekong; Lawrence Fubara Anga, Esq, and Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, Esq.
Rhodes-Vivour, who noted that the new SANs emerged successful from a total of 172 earlier shortlisted, urged them to be more committed to their work and the legal profession, an attitude he said earned them the rank in the first place.
