The United States Mission in Nigeria has reacted to the brutal killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State.
TheNewsGuru reported that Okechukwu was kidnapped from his residence on Tuesday, March 4, and found dead on Wednesday, March 5, as confirmed by the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.
Reacting, the mission in a statement expressed sadness, after which, condemned the act and extended their condolences to the deceased family, congregation, and the Catholic community.
It further called on Nigerian authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Before Okechukwu’s demise, he was serving at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tachiri, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Diocesan Chancellor, Fr. Jacob Shanet, on Wednesday, in reaction of his death, described Okechukwu as a dedicated servant of God who worked selflessly in the vineyard of the Lord.
He added that the reverend’s murder has left the catholic community heartbroken and devastated.
