Urhobo Youths congratulate Olomu monarch at 100

The Urhobo Youth Leaders Association (UYLA), a political pressure group of Urhobo extraction in Delta state, Nigeria has expressed appreciation to God Almighty over the life of the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom on the occasion of his 100th year birthday and 29th year on the throne celebrations.

The Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, Ogoni-Oghoro 1, is the oldest serving monarch in the State.

In a chat with TheNewsGuru correspondent, the President of UYLA, Comrade Francis Arhiyo, described the monarch as a man of valour and a true leader, who has influenced both traditional and political affairs in Urhobo land in particular, in the State at large.

“The Ohworode of Olumu Kingdom is a father, and a father indeed. His reign has brought all round development especially peace to Urhoboland, and the political landscape of Delta state has been greatly affected,” the President said.

Speaking further, he said, “there is no way one will be able to exhaust talking about Ogoni-Oghoro 1. He is a man of valour and a true leader”.

His Royal Majesty, Ovie Richard Layeguen Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro 1, JP, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom is a devoted christian, iconic royal father of the Olomu people and chairman of the Council of Urhobo Traditional Rulers.

As a devoted christian, the Olomu king has been sued to court by his Council of Chiefs for refusing to eat certain food sacrificed to idols.

The Olomu Kingdom is set to be agog as the Ohworode marks his superlative 100 years birthday.

In the past days, starting Friday 13th till Sunday 15th January 2017, the monarch conferred chieftaincy titles on illustrious Olomu sons and daughters at the prestigious Ohworode Palace Ogoni-Olomu.

In continuation of the programme of events, on Wednesday 18th January 2017, there will be a royalty football match in a clash of thongs between Nigerian Premier League side, Warri Wolves and Delta Force at the Otu-Jeremi stadium by 3 pm.

While on Thursday 19th January a Centenary Lecture will hold at the Petroleum Training Institute Conference Centre, Effurun at 11 am, a Praise and Worship Service will hold at the Ohworode Palace Ogoni-Olomu starting at 3, with a Midnight Fireworks at the Palace between 10 pm and 12 midnight.

On Friday 20th January 2017, a Thanksgiving Service will hold at Otorere-Olomu at 10 am with a Book Launch to take place at 12 noon, and a Grand Reception to follow immediately.

President Arhiyor wishes the Ohworode more years on the throne.
