Activist lawyer Femi Falana has stated that no threats from the government or other entities can stop the nationwide protests planned to begin on August 1.
Finding shows that several organizations and the presidency have issued statements condemning the planned protests, which aim to highlight the hardships faced by people in the country.
Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, Falana urged the Federal Government to identify the protest organizers and engage them in meaningful dialogue. He said, “They have a way of contacting themselves, and I think the government can learn from the 2020 (#EndSars) experience.
Identify those who are planning the protest and engage with them productively.”
He emphasized that threats are ineffective, saying, “In fact, the government’s actions can often make such protests more popular. No one listens to such warnings. This time, the government should identify the leaders of the movement and have a dialogue with them. There are demands being raised, and the government should address those demands.”
