Why I visited Wike after PDP presidential primary election – Atiku

Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has opened up on why he visited Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State at his Abuja residence.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Atiku as saying the visit was in continuation of his commitment to bring everyone on board in ensuring that the PDP stands as one united party.

“In continuation of my commitment to bring everyone on board in ensuring that the PDP stands as one united party, earlier today, I visited His Excellency Gov Nyseom Wike at his Abuja residence. This is a continuous process,” a post stamped AA reads on his official Facebook page.

The Former Vice President who emerged the Presidential Candidate of the PDP on Saturday defeated Governor Wike with 371 votes. Wike polled 237 votes to emerge second in the PDP presidential primary election.

The Governor was widely said to have been disappointed by the outcome of the election, especially what was termed as betrayal by Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who withdrew at the last minute, making it difficult for him to respond to his decision.

He had been rumoured to be ready to support any other candidate but the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The visit by the former Vice President is one to mend fences in order to present a common front against the All Progressives Congress (APC) that is yet to elect a presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
