Woman declared dead by doctors gives birth to triplets

Thirty-year-old Marisa Christie was declared dead by doctors but woke up, miraculously, to discover she had given birth to triplets.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Christie was declared “clinically dead” for almost an hour after she experienced an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) and her heart stopped.

Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare life-threatening birth complication, which happens when amniotic fluid enters the mother’s bloodstream.

Everything seemed normal when Christie from Tomball in Texas arrived at the hospital for a planned caesarean section to deliver her triplets.

After the procedure, Christie began haemorrhaging. She eventually stopped breathing and had no pulse. One doctor began CPR, while others attempted to stop her bleeding and began transfusing blood.

Doctors had to remove her uterus in order to save her life, but she remained unconscious for about a week after the incident as she healed.

After she woke up, Christie recalled struggling to comprehend that she had welcomed three daughters, who they named Charlotte, Kendall, and Collins.

“My husband [Dylan] was like, hey, so we had the babies. They’re healthy and great. I was absolutely terrified. How could I not remember having my babies?

“I remember thinking, I don’t know these babies. This is very strange. They feel like they’re not real. They feel like they’re not mine.

“They were already over a week old by the time I had met them. It took a little bit to get that connection with them.

“But they could tell that I was their mom. They respond to me when I talk to them as opposed to other people,” Christie told TODAY.com.

TNG reports Christie was delivered of the babies in August at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, North of Houston in the United States.
