BREAKING: Again! Obasanjo tears down Buhari, urges Nigerians to vote Atiku

* Those angry I forgave Atiku should direct their anger to God

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again rated the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar than the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo who made the declaration while speaking on Wednesday at the Lagos Island Club Quarterly Business lecture said Atiku never lied about his personality like Buhari who is contrived in corrupt practices while still parading himself [PMB] as a saint,

His said, “I have been called names because of my position on Atiku Abubakar, the Wazirin of Adamawa, especially because of certain things I said about him.

“I still stand by my words because they are actually very true, and I have equally said other things about Buhari and they are also very true. Only two Sunday ago, I said what I believe I understood as to the way Buhari is going as regards the coming election, and things have started to show itself.”

He said he’s glad that Nigerians are already rising up to defend the counrty’s fledging democracy.

Stresing that Atiku is best for the job of leading the country, Obasanjo stated certain reasons to score his former Vice President higher than Buhari.

He explained, “Atiku knows himself, he is not like those who cover up with incorruptiblility -all contrived to cheat plunder and destroyed. Atiku never claimed to be a saint and I never described him as such.

“On an occasion, I said someone was not a messiah some people were criticising me, as a christian the only messiah I know is Jesus.

“A leader must be honest to himself and to the people he serves. He must show remorse where he has erred and seek forgiveness. Because you are hunman accept responsibility for mistakes and today Atiku has been accepted.

“Subsequently, when Nigerians vote for him as next president it will be total forgiveness. Atiku sought for my forgiveness and I forgave him as a Christian. I want to quote the holy Bible, Matthew 6:14 -15..“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.”

“If anybody is unahappy that I forgave him, they should direct their actions to God who gave me the instruction to forgive”

“A good leader must understand the challenges and problems he is set out to solve and be ready to set up the team that will think through solution that will benefit Nigeria and Afica and the world at large -Atiku understand the challenges ahead.

Obasanjo, however, said Atiku can’t do it alone, he urged that everyone should ensure he is voted as president.

He told Atiku that if voted as next President by majority of Nigerians, he should be the leader of all and not act like the incumbent who is serving the interest of sectional groups.

Obasanjo also refuted claims that he denied Atiku the chance to preside over Federal Executive Council due to lack of trust.

“I did not need to designate him ‘acting president’ because the constitution is clear; once the president is not available, the vice president automatically acts with full powers, and he consults when and if he considers it necessary.
“But since I was not absent from home for 104 days at a time, people may not know that Atiku actually stood in for me whenever I was out (of the country).
“You have a man who has what it takes in experience, exposure, lessons that he has learnt and he has learnt his lessons. I tried to teach him a few of them. You have a man who has what it takes at this time for us to have a change and we need a change for the better.”
